A ray of hope

Cancer can be very devastating and joy depriving; but not for these cancer kids who seem to be not affected at all with their medical condition.

December 12 can be quite memorable for all the 30 children – with age that ranges from 8 months old to 18 years old – afflicted with cancer. It is because their kind-hearted pediatric-hematologist Dr. Jeannie Bernardo Ong of San Pedro College Doctors Clinic together with other very supportive friends and sponsors organized a Christmas party for the first time at a local restaurant along Torres Street. This was one of the children’s Christmas wishes after several years of attempt to gather together. The party also gave a ray of hope to all these young children telling them they can still enjoy life despite their condition.

Several cancer support groups joined them such as the Children’s Cancer Warriors led by Jonathan Bayogan in Davao City, Kythe Philippines led by Xai Nacionales, and other support groups.

Everyone including the parents of the cancer kids went home very happy bringing along with them loads of gifts and some raffle prizes. Indeed, they are all very grateful for their pediatric-hematologist’s moral support and unending love and care for them. Ana Theresa F. Basilio
