WORD OF GOD
Jesus said, “Who-ever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.”

DEAR PEOPLE

DEAR PEOPLE
God and Flying Voters
BY BERT TESORERO

Concluding the presidential forum which he hosted in his Prayer Mountain at Tamayong Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy the “Appointed Son of God” and head preacher of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name prayer group informed his guests that he would announce on April 25 the presidential candidate whom God shall have chosen to win in the May election. He thanked the presidential bets who responded to his invitation and appeared before the assembly to state their individual platforms while lamenting those who committed to attend but failed to appear in the forum, saying at least in substance thus – “a commitment is a word of honor and those who committed but failed to make good their commitment have no word and no honor.”

***

I’m rather curious about the assurance of Pastor Quiboloy that God would lay down His choice on the presidential bet that would win in the presidential derby whom he would announce in April 25. Dogmatically as all Christians believe, God lords it over all temporal matters including government. God is the source of temporal power, says Dante in his De Monarchia. Thus whoever the leader God chooses to rule the country wins in the presidential polls.

***

As the late Jaime the Cardinal Sin puts it, the voice of the people is the voice of God. Whomsoever the people elect as their leader to head the government is the will of God. Vox populi vox dei.

***

God the Almighty, the most compassionate and merciful, omnipotent and ever-present God can never make a mistake. God’s choice on a presidential bet is not just an endorsement it is a command. Thus it follows that the presidential candidate whom God shall have chosen will win in the election upon the announcement of Pastor Quiboloy on April 25 even before the Mayor polls. Did I get it right?

***

Okay but just to disabuse the mind of the readers there’s a question on this score to resolve. By invoking God’s divinity in the choice of presidential candidate to win in the election would that not be unduly putting the Lord to test? God in His Great Wisdom cannot be playing favorites among his children whom He has created equal.

***

There’s that old biblical story we learned in grade school about the meeting of Lucifer and Christ in the mountain where Jesus used to meditate in communication with God the Father. After failing to convince Christ into joining his legion, Lucifer challenged Jesus to jump into the cliff and let his angels save him from breaking his bones on the rocks. Jesus meekly replied and said something like – “Thou shall not put your God into test.”

***

By imploring Jesus Christ, the Name Above Every Name, and dragging Him to task in the choice of the presidential candidate to win in the forthcoming May election, it would seem that Christ is being asked to interfere in politics. Politics in this country has become so dirty it would be impious if blasphemous to link His Sacred Name into this foul partisan game.

***

God in His infinite wisdom has given man free will and intelligence to know and determine for himself the difference between right and wrong. With his God-given intelligence man is free to choose the leader whom be believes can rule the country properly and efficiently, devoid of graft and corruption. But man need not call on God to pick the presidential bet to win in the May election and make his fellow men believe that God has so willed it because that is not true. Gaba-an ‘ta sa Guinoo, no?

CHEATERS. I wonder what game the Commission on Election is playing in regard to the discovery of the more than 40,000 double and multiple registrants including the 924 dead voters in Davao City and Davao del Sur. The Comelec has recently declared that only the courts of justice can purge the voters list that had been infested by flying voters and double registrants bent on cheating in the election.

***

The Comelec would have it known that according to the Constitution the Comelec can decide on any issue relating to the election, except the right to vote. So the poll body cannot delete the names of the double and multiple registrants including the dead voters from the posted computerized list of voters since it involves their right to vote and it is only the courts that decide on the issue. Sus!

***

Are we to understand that voters that fraudulently registered themselves twice, thrice and those who deceptively presented themselves as the dead voters unknown to the registrar as deceased still have the right to exercise their votes? Peste! These people are perceived to be criminals with the intention to cheat in the election and still the Comelec finds itself so inutile in deleting their names from the list of legitimate voters?

***

What added to my horror is the statement coming from the local Comelec office that the election body would just highlight the names of the double, triple registrants and tell them to cast their ballots in the place where they were first registered. That’s precisely the point. The people who have violated the election law to cheat in the election by double and multiple registrations are still allowed to Comelec to vote in the polls. How can the poll body explain this?

***

Anyway, it’s pointless to argue with the Comelec that is firm on its stand against deleting the names of the double registrants in the voters list. To protect themselves against cheating in the polls, the legal panels of the political parties affected by the fraud should petition the courts for the exclusion of the flying voters from the voters list and they have better be quick about it as the election is fast coming nearer and nearer.
