| School gets bomb threats |
A private Catholic school along Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City was forced to suspend its classes after receiving two bomb threats last Monday. The management of Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) decided to suspend classes after receiving the bomb threats through two phone calls last March 9. HCDC president Dr. Ma. Iris Melliza said the first call was received at 8:15 a.m. while the second was received at about 2 p.m.. Both calls were directed to the Finance Office. To protect the teachers and students, Melliza immediately told the faculty and students to leave the building. No bomb was found. Melliza also immediately informed the Davao Association of Colleges and Schools (DACS) about the bomb threats. “We also had to warn them that we received bomb threats so that they can also prepare and heighten their security,” she said. Melliza said the school management could not specifically point to the motives for the bomb threats. She also said what happened was indeed a learning experience for the administration, which will now heighten its security measures. |
